Since February 2009, you can discover the building of this exhibition layout on the site. In 2010, I participated at Expo NG, the British narrow gauge model railway exhibition. After this exhibition, I would like to improve Koonunga Junction by adding some stuffs especially a transporter wagon.

La participation à une exposition comme celle de Swanley (Expo Narrow Gauge) est toujours un événement propice à la réalisation de modification du réseau et/ou à l’ajout de détails. Et Koonunga Junction n’échappe pas à cette règle.
Back to the past for a while. In 1969, Melbourne Southern Railway bought Yarra Island Railway. A part of tracks was changed to broad gauge (“the standard gauge” in Victoria state) especially the high line from Newport to Clifton South by Clayton Heights to improve the exchange with Australia.
Retour sur l’histoire de la compagnie ferroviaire. La MSR (Melbourne Southern Railway) a racheté la YIR en 1969. Afin de faciliter les échanges avec l’Australie, une partie des voies et en particulier la ligne principale a été mise à l’écartement large, l’écartement standard dans l’état du Victoria.
Only the Koonunga branch line was on narrow gauge track always. So, the Compagny had to use a special car, a transporter wagon (click on the photos to see them full size).
Seule la ligne vers Koonunga Junction est restée à voie étroite. Un wagon porteur évite ainsi de nombreux transbordements des marchandises (cliquez sur les photographies pour les obtenir en grand format).

Some other items were added like railway signs, a tank water from SBLC, a burning oil drum (with a fire effect circuit) and a station master (click on the photo to see it full size).
